When you have a family member or friend who loves reading as much as I do, the obvious gift to get them would be a book, but there are so many other possibilities to make each gift an amazing, and welcome surprise. Don’t get me wrong, you can never go wrong with a book, but chances are, your book-loving friend already has plenty. What might a more creative gift look like? Luckily, there are some related presents they would absolutely adore. Check out this list for some of the best ways to show your appreciation to a bookworm!
Bookends
Bookends are an essential decoration in any book lover’s room. They come in so many designs; animals, letters, objects, that can really give the gift a more personalized feel. You could get one that matches the color scheme of their room, their favorite animal, maybe a saying that they love, or even just something that reminds you of them. The options are unlimited. This gift is useful and cute and something that they would love for sure.
Knock Knock Personal Library Kit
If your reader friend is anything like me, then they will always be lending books to friends and family. I love doing so because it gives me a chance to share the thing I love, but it can also cause difficulties when it comes to them being returned. There’s always a chance you forgot who you lent a book to or how long it’s been gone, but with the Knock Knock Personal Library Kit, you can always know where your book is. It comes with checkout cards and a date stamp. This is a very practical gift but it also has an element of fun!
Candles
Candles are always great gifts, though especially for book lovers. When reading candles are the perfect thing to have to let you relax and just focus on reading. They make a space feel cozy, and it’s always better to settle down with a book in hand in the perfect space. No to mention the amazing option of scents, my personal favorite: Old Books, something they would love as well.
Book Light
Lighting is important when reading, and a book light is something book lovers would get much use out of. They’re perfect for secret late-night reading sessions, which if you're a teenage book lover, are bound to be frequent. They’re also great for reading in the car, or even if you’re just far away from a window or a lamp. They too, come in many designs that they’ll love. A fantastic option for a gift.
Noise-Cancelling Headphones
This one seems a little strange, but I guarantee it’s something a reader would love and use all the time. Oftentimes when you’re reading, there will be a lot of outside noises and distractions. Headphones eliminate these and make reading all the more enjoyable. You can block out any sounds and focus solely on your book with no interruptions. Especially if you’re someone who likes a little background music, headphones would work great.
Book Related Merchandise
This is a very broad idea, but what you get depends on the reader. There are countless options available: posters, figurines, customized items with quotes, movie adaptation, or any merchandise that their fandom has to offer. If they love Harry Potter, get them a wand, or a Dobby stuffed animal! For Christmas last year, I got my friend a Pride and Prejudice Ink Set. There are so many options to choose from, and this will make gifts so much more personalized and meaningful. You can get them a figurine of their favorite character, or a throw pillow with their favorite quote!
All in all, gifts are a physical way to show how much we appreciate someone. If that special person is a book lover, this list is fantastic for an outside-of-the-box idea. These gifts will show that you put extra thought and effort, which is sure to be appreciated. Happy gifting!!
